Yoga means to yolk or unite. Through the physical practice of yoga we attempt to unite our minds with our bodies through the breath. Much emphasis is placed on the breath as we move and practice various poses (asanas) helping to bring us to the present moment and calm the mind.
Yoga can be a practice of mindfulness. We pay attention on purpose, moment by moment, breath by breath, to the sensations that are created as we gently move the body, letting go of judgment or striving. We are then encouraged to take this practice into our practice of life.
Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift – thus it’s called the Present. May you enjoy the “Gift of Presence” thru Yoga. See you on the Mat!
